The Beginning - Laying the Foundation
Gathercare was first established as Life Engineering on 15th March 2017. The company was built with a clear and meaningful vision, which is to address critical issues in the healthcare system, particularly medical fraud, waste, and abuse (FWA).
Mr Gideon Leong was sharing his insights of him foaming Life Engineering.
The inspiration behind this mission began with a heartbreaking news that gained public attention on 25th February 2016, including our founder, Mr Gideon Leong. A 20-year-old girl, Lian Jia Yu, who passed away from liver disease because she could not wait for her family to raise funds of MYR 300,000 for a liver transplant in time. This incident highlighted the harsh reality many faces when medical care is out of reach due to financial constraints. It became the driving force behind Gathercare’s model, a medical cost-sharing platform that ensures no one is left behind when they need care the most.

With this in mind, Gathercare aspired to create a more sustainable and transparent health ecosystem, where care is centred on people, and support is shared within a trusted community.
An important notice announcing that Life Engineering officially rebranded to Gathercare on 1st November 2022, as posted on our Facebook page.
In 2020, the company was rebranded to Gathercare, reflecting a clearer direction and stronger identity as a health-sharing community. Its core purpose remained unchanged to ensure that everyone has the right to access quality and affordable medical protection. This includes long-term plans to establish its own network of specialists and hospitals, and to provide a full medical treatment allowance for the community.
